I am Professor of International Political Studies in the Department of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Witten/Herdecke University and an affiliate at the Politics of Inequality Cluster at the University of Konstanz. I study political violence, ethnic politics, power-sharing coalitions, and democratic survival. My research has been published in the American Journal of Political Science, the American Political Science Review, the Journal of Politics, and has been supported by the European Research Council.
